Alishka tagged me. She is linked somewhere on my side-bar. Along with the rest of my cult-like following.

So...the rules are as follows for this chain letter:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Write six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your blog entry is up.

I actually keep debating following all these rules because, after all, clearly people cannot follow my rules for blog giveaways very easily, and therefore I do not feel very obligated.

I don't like potatoes
I don't like tomatoes
I am going ghost-towning this weekend
I am having made a peach pie today
I am reading Jingo by Terry Prachett
I am missing my cats and my parents and, yes, even my sister.

I tag the first 6 people to stumble upon this here blog (can't get much more random then that). And because I don't know who they will be, I cannot leave them notification on their webby. The end.

Giveaway Winner

And the winner is.....

BOB! (Good job on that last minute entry.)

You have your choice between a handmade set of magnets OR a figurine. Just let me know.

Seriously, some of you people really need to learn to follow rules, though. I didn't have as many entries as I would have had if rules had been followed. And we all know I am a stickler for rules.

Curiouser and Curiouser

Or, in other words, What I Do (at work)

(Ok. This is not completely in order, but whatevs.)

Here you see our Vending Machine! It's On Your Honor, but everyone pays up, I think, otherwise it wouldn't still be running. Things are priced At Cost instead of to make a profit. Bless the Printer who was fed up with the vending machines in the break room (which, by the way, Skeeter and I noticed have gone up in price at least a quarter for everything).
Here is Skeeter in our First Break break room. (We don't like hangin' it with the weirdies, so we use two different break rooms throughout the day.) Her Schnookums made her a lunch like... 2 weeks ago (when I took this picture) and she was elated about it.
And this is Barbie on her Chariot of Fire. Very few people actually just push these things around, but Barbie likes to randomly disappear from working and take herself a ride around the building.
I am not real sure what this thing really is, but it is painted to look like a football player (clearly). Skeeter was giving him some love, but decided she likes her Schnookums better. Good for her.
And THIS is what I have been working on for AGES!!! See all those papers? I filed almost every single one of them. And this isn't even all of it. We ended up throwing a ton of pages away this week (and when I say "ton," I mean like a whole trash can's worth). This is what I generally do for the fist two hours that I am at work.
And here is Skeeter on the cutter. This is what she does until second shift rolls around.

On Fridays we have taken to hunting down the Paper Pit and playing in it. Sometimes we HAVE to jump in there (not necessarily on Fridays, mind) otherwise the Three Knife gets jammed. It's a very complex machine/paper pit combo.

One time Skeeter and I had to jump in there so that the machine wouldn't clog and the paper was so high that it engulfed us and totally burried us after we had jumped in. It was really scary and we literally had to swim to the top to get out. In hindsight it was way fun, though. As you can see by this picture, the paper pit was not full on Friday at all (sometimes it goes all the way to that faucety-looking pipe).

And here is what I do for the rest of my working hours. Barbie helped me out this Friday because Puncher had gone home early (his fiance is in town). First you load the paper:
Then it goes through the machine and comes out onto the conveyer belt:
Where I take it, jog the books, and stack them. Only what you see here is Supervisor's stack, not mine. This is what I aspire to beable to do before I am done with working here. It's PERFECT.
And here are all the little paper punchies of the day (from my machine, Supervisor has a different machine that he uses but that also punches books).
Finally work is done. On my way out the door, I always give a nod to Horton the Elephant.

Ahhhhhhh! My K is coming to Utah next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Clearly I am excited about this. I haven't seen My K since last summer when she moved away from me. That was a sad, sad day. I was left to live with SF all by myself. Well, except then we had that little 18-year old move in. She wasn't that bad, I guess. Just not always clean, either. Hm.

Anyway, My K! We will watch Monk and more Monk and eat food at restaurants (why can I never spell that word quite right? Annoying) and force her to meet Chilly (assuming Chilly can break her rule about not coming to P-town ever) and just have all kinds of good bonding time. Oh. My. Gosh. I am so excited!

Long Promised

I promised this to Chillylint a very, very long time ago. Months and months ago. 4 months ago, in fact. Almost to the date, even.

Just a friendly little reminder that you have exactly 1 week from the time this blog posts to get all your entries in to the giveaway. Good luck! (Also, some of you may want to go over the rules again and compare them to comments left. Just sayin'.)

Me and the Poop Smith
♦ 7/15/2008 08:22:00 PM 0 comments

I have this one co-worker. We call her the Poop Smith. Not for lack of a better name (which, incidentally, her real name is a better name), but because it's so fitting. Now, don't get me wrong. Usually I give people the benefit of the doubt. And I did with her for as long as humanly possible. But after two months, I've finally reached the conclusion that she just doesn't like me. Which, hey, that's fine. You don't have to like me, I can accept that. It's when you don't let me do my job (you know, that thing for which I was hired and am payed to be there for) that I start to have issues with you. Yesterday we reached the climax of the issue.

So I file for the first two hours that I am at work, generally. There is a lot of filing to be done. I have, at last, almost finished and it's the tedious stuff that's left now. Well, there were a few PMGs that were just needing a couple of pages replaced, so I replaced those pages and took the books over to the Puncher. He was, obviously, doing his job and punching and didn't have time to take them right then. Fine, I can understand that. I do his job, too.

But then there were about, oh, I don't know, like 10 pages that needed to be punched. And they were all the back pages of which we are in desperate need of. Once those pages were punched, I would have another complete book to give to Puncher. These pages I took over to the Poop Smith, as she was feeding the machine, to have her put them just on top of the stack. Then Puncher would be able to bring them over to me and blah blah blah, life goes on all hunky-dory that way. But no.

"We don't need those pages," she tells me.
"What?" says I.
"We don't need those. We have a lot of them."
"The back pages? No, we don't have any of these. We need these."
"No we don't, we have a whole bunch of them over there."
"Umm... No, we really don't. I promise. There aren't any. This is it. I need these punched."
"Oh, well, we're ordering them. They're just not here yet."
"Just the back pages?"
"Yes. We're ordering a whole bunch of them."
"Oookay." And that's when I turned and walked away.

Now, here's what you have to understand. PMGs come to us in full books already bound. We cut the bindings off (they are not user-friendly the way they are bound), punch them, and then re-bind them with coils. This is the way you will find them in the stores or at the MTC or wherever else it is that you find PMGs (I don't know, I'm not a mercenary.) So it's actually basically impossible for us to just order certain pages. They don't come to us that way.

Well, Puncher gives me this look as I walk away and I just roll my eyes and shake my head at him like "don't get me started." He comes over and he's like, "She won't punch them? Why?" So I told him and he gives me another look that says "She's insane." I shrugged my shoulders and he said, "We'll get them later."

Maybe half an hour passes. Poop Smith comes up to me lugging this huge empty pallet behind her, drops it on the floor and says, "The books that you are putting together don't line up perfectly and won't run through the machines. We can't use them. Don't put them on the stack and don't bring them to us anymore. You have to put them on this pallet." She reiterated a few points then left. I just kept my mouth shut because I was already in a foul mood and didn't want to end up saying something I'd later regret.

Break time rolls around. I chose not to go and coiled the books that I'd given to Puncher earlier. Mostly to prove the point that, hey. I know what I'm doing and I do my job well. So let me do it! And I tell you what. Those books ran through that inserter smooth as.

And that's the end. She didn't come to work today, so all was well.

The Blogging Game

Here is a fun little game... leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time or a long time, anything that you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It is pretty funny to read the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you are playing and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. On your mark... get set... blog those memories!

And, even though I've only gotten 3 comment responses about the give-away, I know of at least 2 more people that would be interested. So, are you ready for this?

Here are the Rules:

That's right. Comment on THIS blog post (which means clicking the "comment" thingy above the post- if you click on the one below it, then you're actually commenting on the previous post) about something you remember about me (if you make it too embarrassing, not only will I not allow your comment to post, but you will not be entered via that comment for the giveaway) or, if you don't know me, you can tell me why I'm awesome. No fluff compliments, either. Those will not count towards entering. You can do both of these options and get two entries into the competition if you really want. Also, make sure your comment says that you are entering the Blog Giveaway. For a third chance at winning, give me a shout out on your blog. And tell me, so I can see it.

I haven't decided yet if the prize will be a pack of handmade cards or a figurine (also clearly handmade), but either way, it'll be good. Because you know anything I make is always one of a kind.

So, go to! Enter my blog giveaway!!! Which is not to say that I'm giving away my blog, but, you know.

Deadline is July 26 at 10:00 pm. You have two weeks.

Reminiscent of Old Times

This reminds me of old times waaaay back in High School with my T-chan. Man, I miss those times.

Yeah, it's weird. I know. Get over it. It actually sounded much better when she sang it and did the octopus dance at the same time.

Attention Please
♦ 7/12/2008 12:39:00 PM 3 comments

All these cool people that I know* keep doing these blog give-aways. Of course, I don't enter most of them, but that's not the point. The point is that cool people are doing it, and I'm not? So I want to be cool. Only, here's the thing. I haven't money nor spare things just lying around to actually, you know, buy prizes to provide or whatever. So if I were to do a give-away, it would have to be something less cool, like a clay figurine or a pack of cards or something.

So, here's where I need you. What do you think? Also, I need at least 5 people telling me (in comment form, on this here blog) that heck yes, it's worth it for me to actually do one.

*Know meaning that I read their blogs. I don't actually know all of them.

Patience; a scripture-chain Svithe

♦ 7/11/2008 06:44:00 PM 2 comments

Once upon a time I randomly decided to look at all my blog posts. And then I went, "What's this? A draft? oops." So, here go.
36 For ye have need of apatience, that, after ye have done the bwill of God, ye might receive the cpromise. (Hebrews 10)

4 For whatsoever things were awritten aforetime were bwritten for our clearning, that we through dpatience and comfort of the escriptures might have fhope. (Romans 15)
11 And the Lord said unto them also: Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren, and establish my word; yet ye shall be apatient in long-suffering and afflictions, that ye may show forth good bexamples unto them in me, and I will make an instrument of thee in my hands unto the salvation of many souls.

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into adivers btemptations;
3 Knowing this, that the atrying of your faith worketh bpatience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be aperfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James 1)

40 And now my beloved brethren, I would exhort you to have apatience, and that ye bear with all manner of bafflictions; that ye do not crevile against those who do cast you out because of your dexceeding poverty, lest ye become sinners like unto them;
41 But that ye have apatience, and bear with those bafflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions. (Alma 34)

21 Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to achasten his people; yea, he trieth their bpatience and their faith.
22 Nevertheless—whosoever putteth his atrust in him the same shall be blifted up at the last day. Yea, and thus it was with this people. (Mosiah 23)

19 For this is athankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure bgrief ...
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it apatiently? but if, when ye do well, and bsuffer for it, ye take it cpatiently, this is dacceptable with God. (1 Peter 2)

1 Verily I say unto you my friends, afear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give bthanks;
2 aWaiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament—the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.
3 Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been aafflicted shall work together for your bgood, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord. (D&C 98)

27 Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to aturn back, behold, the Lord bcomforted us, and said: ... bear with cpatience thine dafflictions, and I will give unto you success. (Alma 26)

3 And not only so, but we glory in atribulations also: knowing that btribulation worketh cpatience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And ahope maketh not ashamed; because the blove of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5)

1 ... and let us run with cpatience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12)

Maybe rephrase this headline. I don't think earthquakes can have babies, much less twins.

"Panda moved after China quake gives birth to twins"

P.S. I haven't actually read the article. I'm still at work.

Happy 300!

Feline Follies

♦ 7/04/2008 05:14:00 PM 0 comments

I don't know that "folly" is the right word there, but I liked the alliteration.

So I'm home for the weekend, right? Right. And it's lovely and hot and, well, hot. So basically I've been inside all day because it is way too hot to go outside.

Drawly has this thing with shoes. I think he's had it always, because I've noticed him always playing with unworn shoes if they are around. Well, he's learned this new game where the human puts a toy mouse in the shoe and then he has to try to get it out. So Dad had his shoes off after we got home from the airport, right? So I dropped a mouse into each shoe. He coudn't decide which one to go for, I guess, because he stuck one of his front paws in each shoe and looked like he was trying to wear them. It was really cute.

More recently today, Drawly had some trauma. Sister has these things called "Soft Claws" for Buddy. They're rubber tips that you glue onto the cat's claws and then the cat sheds them after a few weeks or something (think acrylic nails- you know, fake ones). Drawly, I guess, is old enough to wear them, too, now, so she put some of those on him. Well, he's playing wiht one of his toys, and it's all carpeted and stuff. A lot of cat toys are. Then he decides he wants to go play with a different toy, only he couldn't get away from the first one becuase his soft claw was snagged in the carpet! It was so sad, becuase when I went to help him get free, he started crying as his claw got twisted, and then Sister came to try to help and she was like ripping the soft claw off his real claw (only not on purpose) and he started crying much more vocally, so finally Dad went and found his x-acto knife and cut the carpet. He's fine now, but was rather docile for a while... Like 30 seconds.

Cutest kitten ever.

And if you're interested in his brother (also a very, very cute kitten), Sir Guy and Sonja are also up for adoption. Comment for details (or email me).
