Rash Update
Monday, May 31, 2010
♦ 5/31/2010 04:43:00 PM 2 comments

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you already know this. It is for the rest of you poor souls that I post the following update.

So it's Memorial Day today, right? So, therefore, my doctor's office is closed. Which means I had to go to the InstaCare this afternoon instead re: my "hives." Which is fine, I guess, because at least I got a diagnosis and now something can be done to make my "hives" go away. Oh, but wait. They're not hives, after all! Is it scabies? Nope! Poison Ivy/Oak? Nope! Chicken Pox? Getting closer! Shingles? YES! Yes, my friends, I have shingles. It hurts like the dickens on fire and itches like the crazy whosits. Also looks kind of nasty.

Good news is, though, that I don't have to go to work tomorrow, now, because my coworker that I was supposed to work with is preggers, and I'm not supposed to be around Small Chilren (who've never had the pox) or Pregnant Woman! So, yea! Extra day off. It's like a super long weekend and almost awesome!

Fish Shoes

I am not really sure how these qualify as Men's Shoes, but, according to Amazon, they do. So weird. And I don't mean just the fact that they are "men's!"

A Surprise Svithe
Sunday, May 30, 2010
♦ 5/30/2010 11:46:00 PM 1 comments

My parents and I have begun reading the Book of Mormon every day (well, trying to), and we email the family insights which we pick up in our readings. I've decided to post some of my own, personal insights here, in an effort to get back to the Svithe cycle thinger. Some days reading provides a lot more inspiration than other days, so I hope you'll forgive me if some of my posts seem lame or not very well thought out. For more information on the Book of Mormon or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), please visit Mormon.org or scriptures.lds.org (both are hyper-linked, so feel free to click away).

I was reading in 2 Nephi chapter 31. I guess these verses stuck out to me because of my lesson on Sunday (this was a few weeks ago. My lesson was about perseverance, and I may or may not get it typed up and blogged. Had to plan it on the plane back from Florida, but I think it turned out really well). It starts in verse 19 "And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay;... Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."

Then in chapter 32 I read that after we receive the Holy Ghost, we can speak with the tongue of angels (verse 2). In verse 3 it says "Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ;..." So does that mean that when we talk about the Book of Mormon, we are speaking in the tongue of angels? Just something to think about.

I have hives. I think. Or some kind of rash that itches like crazy, anyway. All over. But especially on my left shoulder and back and my neck. THIS IS NOT AWESOME!

Due to the not awesomeness (also my laziness at getting pictures uploaded from my camera), regular posting is being delayed until the hives are gone (or I am not so lazy, whichever happens first).

Not like you expected a post any time soon, anyway.

75 Things to Blog About
Thursday, May 27, 2010
♦ 5/27/2010 10:51:00 PM 0 comments

Just to be clear, the majority of these ideas I did not come up with, but rather found them on various other websites/blogs. I wish I would have remembered to grab a link to the sources, but I didn't. Sorry. Umm.. (By the way, hovering your cursor over the picture makes the words more... legible. Sorry about the weird format.)

Anyway. I've been at a loss for things to blog about for... quite some time now. You may have noticed by the apparent lack of blog updates. They just don't happen all that often, do they! So, in my quest to get writing again (I'm really wanting to actually WRITE write, not just blog), I've decided to keep handy a list of topics that I might blog about. Get the brain going, you know? Feel free to use this list at your leisure. I'd love to read your responses to any/all of the items on it! It's fun to see how different people think.

In the meantime, be on the lookout for me hopefully actually using this list and updating my blog periodically. Preferably more than just once or twice a month, as has seemed to be my average as of late.

(Oh, but P.S. I probably won't blog any more this week. We're driving up to the North Country tomorrow after I get off of work because my cousin is getting married Saturday morning. And then, basically right after the wedding, we are driving back home so that I may close at work. But let's not talk about work right now, because it makes me want to cry. When the mess is sorted/more manageable, then perhaps I will blog the sob story/nightmare that has been controlling a great portion of my life since Tuesday.)

So, here it is. A List of Things to Blog About when you're at a loss for Things to Blog About.

Short Meme

♦ 5/22/2010 12:57:00 PM 2 comments

I hope your heart wasn't too terribly broken when I didn't blog on Wednesday (we all knew that would happen, didn't we? I did, anyway). My non blogging was due to the fact that I was either a) slaving away at work all night BY MYSELF and counting loads of boxes that I didn't actually need to count OR b) stuffing my face with ice cream cake. I will let you take your pick (but I'll give you a clue, it wasn't the one that sounds the most enjoyable).

Anyway, since last time I blogged, I am now officially a year older (and some might say "wiser," but I say "Only if you like comments from the Peanut Gallery (as my bishop so accuses me)"). I have had the snarks really bad this week, and I'm afraid some of it might have come out when I was talking to a customer last night (OK. Seriously. You don't come up to me and ask "Which fabric in the women's is like the men's cotton?" and expect me to answer in a way that doesn't make you look stupid.) I have also discovered that exercise can be fun, but only if done while playing Wii Fit (plus! Drawly even gets to "play!"). And I have planned a brief road trip with the Mom, in which we will drive to California, spend approximately 2 days there, and drive back in time for me to be at work on Tuesday. Guys, I am so excited. There will be Traditional Trifecta Fun Times, and Disneyland, and and and Not Being in Utah (not that I have anything against Utah, I just need to get OUT a lot). This plan goes into action tomorrow morning, so that we may make it to Anaheim in time for me to go to church at my old Branch, which I love and miss dearly. (I hope linger longer is especially delicious, because I am seriously looking forward to that, too.)

And now, because I feel like there isn't much blogging going on on my part, I leave you with a short meme that I picked up somewhere.

1.  Where were you five years ago?

Five years ago I was... Oh. At home, still recovering from having my wisdom teethies removed (which removal actually took place on the 5th of May, but I basically couldn't open my mouth for like 3 weeks). That was not the most fun experience of my life, and I'm glad that I will never again have to repeat it.

2.  On my to-do list today?

Basically as follows:
Finish getting dressed
Make my bed
Eat some Foods
Clean the House (if I get the energy To Do. Won't be here on my typically cleaning day next week, but I may put it off until Wednesday after work. This seems more likely)
Probably do something about my hair, preferably more than just sticking it in a pony tail, but, again. Time? Energy? Desire to actually look like I put effort into myself today (there is not a whole lot of that going on right now)?
Scripture Study (Ammon just chopped off a bunch of arms yesterday. Still awesome. Meanwhile, right now the king is zonked out as if to be dead, but he's NOT! Yes, I can make the Book of Mormon sound extra exciting. Because it IS.)
Pack for my Road Trip
And, oh yeah, go to work

3.  What are your five favorite snacks?
Favorite snacks. Hm. Caramel Tim Tams are right at the top of the list right now, but also Grasshopper cookies, and strawberry Mentos, and Konpeito, and twizzlers... OK, basically I just like Sugar and Chocolate. An occasional cheeto is OK, too.

4.  If you were a billionaire you would...
Travel the world and finish my education. Maybe in reverse order, maybe not. Also, I would live in California.

Just wanted to share with all of you my current favorite song. Also, I plan to blog again in the near future. Maybe tomorrow?! Don't get your hopes up too high, though.

Yo!

I keep thinking about blogging again, but then I don't. Usually because the internet dies just as I get to the blogger dashboard. IT HASN'T DIED YET TODAY, THOUGH, SO KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED! We may get this post out, yet. (Also, it promises to be very picture heavy. Sorry. Sort of.)

So once upon a time I said something about how I reallyreallyreally want to go to Taiwan next year and teach the English to small chiddlers. Well, there are currently two itty bitty glitches to this plan. 1) I don't have a college degree, despite the fact that I did attend BYU for 4.5 years (don't ask. I don't want to talk about it). and 2) I don't have a passport. I am happy to say that, $35 later, I am doing something about point number uno. Today (actually, more like 5 minutes ago) I applied as a transfer student to the college here in town. I have every intention of getting my AA in 2 semesters (I may hate myself while I'm doing it and want to die, but I don't feel like Town College can be THAT hard. They accept everybody. Seriously.) (also, hello, did you know that I can get an AA in PHOTOGRAPHY?? I did not know this. We'll see if I actually stick to that or just go with the AA in Arts (it might be easier/faster)). I also have found a buddy to hold my hand and take me down to the post office to get my passport picture taken and help me out with the application process. (Hey, Jess, you're still down with this, right? RIGHT? It will make us even, Right?) I am also occasionally looking into other options to get myself to Taiwan, but I mostly really do want to teach the English, and I feel like this is what I'm supposed to be focusing on right now.

Second line of blogging, We went to Florida a few weeks ago! We being my family and me. Stayed on the beach at Fort Meyers and it was pretty awesome. The water was a little cold, but nothing like that Pacific Ocean. It didn't take long to get used to it and it actually felt pretty good after the initial shock. And guess who braved the ocean and ACTUALLY got in it? Past her knees?
Miracle.

We also had this fun time where people at the beach kept talking to us. Which is cool, I guess, but I am not a chatty person. Dad and Sister took over that category for us. We had this preacher dood named Patrick (I think?) start talking to us, though, and he was awesome. He is a priest of a Spanish congregation and has a dog that seriously KNOWS the word "fish" and what it means. He'd say, "Is that a FISH?" and she'd go darting into the ocean to try to find it.
This is Tequila, the Preacher's Chocolate Lab. Love her.

On one of our strolls down the beach, we found this thing. It was squishy and seemingly alive. Found out it was a Sea Slug?! Then Dad threw it into the ocean and it INKED and I thought it was bleeding and dying and was so sad. But it was just ink. And then it came back to shore with the waves and I touched it and tried to make it feel better. I doubt I succeeded, but I felt better for trying to comfort it from it's flying trauma.

I know it doesn't look like much, but it really was pretty cool. Clicking HERE will take you to a picture of a Sea Slug in the Ocean instead of on the Beach. Also, Googling "Sea Slug" brings up some really cool images. You should try it! They come in many awesome colors.

Other forms of wildlife we saw on the beach include:

a Sand Dollar (alive!) (OK, admittedly, we found this IN THE OCEAN, but we brought it to the beach to show the Parents, then took it back to approximately where we found it)

Snails (We found many) (This was all in an attempt to find the most awesome sea shells. All the good ones, unfortunately, were taken. Those snails. So "shelfish." Jerks.)

Starfishies (This one was huge and bigger than my head, I am pretty sure.)

And also hermit crabs, but I didn't get any good pictures of them. I do have a video or two, but am not loading that to the internet at this time.

Dad and I took a trip out to Naples to go on a Manatee Boat Tour (No See, No Pay! Thank you Barry's Boat Tours! We saw, we payed, and it was worth EVERY PENNY, if only because I got to see...

A mommy and baby! They are so cute. I kind of love them a lot. Someday I would like to feed one and be in the water with one. You would not have wanted to be in the water with these ones, though, if only because of this guy and his many friends:

Other things we saw and did include going to a botanical garden

To the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford estates

(And if you follow me on Twitter, then you have probably already seen this picture of the Partially Eaten Dead Fish)

And we also went to the Shell Factory (no pictures of that) where I got many dollars worth of sea shells that I have no idea what to do with, but they are cool and therefore worth the money.

So that's been my life lately! Now it is back to working and the real world.

Q the As

Th. asked:
Ummmmm.....how long's your hair now...?

Not as long as it used to be, still. Once upon a time it was THIS long

And then in 2005 it became this long (and I cried a lot of tears. A lot.)

And now it is This long, and I dyed it (twice). Also, this picture is not entirely accurate in length. As of 5:30 this afternoon, my hair became about an inch and a half shorter.
Chillylint said: "I want you to get online and tell me how you know Pablo. Ready? GO!"
And then I told her (but for the rest of you, Pablo used to live 2 floors up from me and we were in the same ward. He was my roommate's home teacher. )

CavDawg asked "What is your preferred weapon for destroying the undead?"
I am a huge fan of mallets, but I don't know that would be very effective against the undead. A stake through the heart is kind of messy, and garlic smells bad. Being that I adore the Sun, though, I think I'll just go with that (and, until the sun comes up, I'll use this awesome table to defend myself: click!)
