Hahu Revisited

This evening after dinner Christina and I decided to ride our bikes down to Hahu again. We were going to go to a park, too, but decided we didn't really want to be out on our bikes after dark. After a good day of training and taking in so much information, though, it was really good to get out, even if it was just for a short while.

(Pretend my hand doesn't look fat. I promise I haven't eaten that much rice yet!) This is the cute pastry I got. Chocolate flavors aren't nearly as strong here, but they seem to like jelly in everything. This one had grape jelly in the center. It actually tasted OK, but I think it should have been more chocolatey.

Christina with her Hello Kitty shortbread-type thing. She said it had strawberry jelly in the middle.

Classes start on Friday. I am feeling quite a bit better about things now, but I still need to go over a few of my lesson plans some more to get really comfortable with them. I think class assignments are pretty well set now; before they were subject to change (and did!), but I don't feel like Gerald is going to throw me for any more loops (at least not in that respect) this close to the curtain call, if you will.

Monday through Friday I'll be teaching Afternoon Kindergarten (right after lunch) with Christina (we'll each teach half of the students, switch, teach, switch, teach, switch, and teach). My AK classes currently involve snack time and games. I think each segment is about 35-40 minutes long, but I need to double check this. There are 17-18 students total in AK, as far as I can tell, so I'll have about 9 at a time. My Elementary class (5th grade) is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It takes place right after AK, and there are currently 14 students in this class. I think that of them all, I am most nervous about this one. 14 is a lot more than what I was expecting! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have an "Adult Tutoring" class. Uhh... yeah. I guess the "Adult" will be bringing their own material, so I don't have to worry about lesson plans for that (at least not right now?). I am excited to see what this entails! My High School Writing class is held once a week on Friday. There are only two students in this class, and I think it should be a lot of fun. I love to write! Plus these kids have been at Berhan since their MK (Morning Kindergarten) days, so they know how things run. Finally, Saturday (I know, right?) I have another tutoring session that is over by late morning.

Anyway, I've got a few things that I really need to work on before I head to bed, so until next time! I hope you are all well. Thank you to those of you that have been emailing/chatting/skyping with me! I know I'm beginning to sound rather repetitive, but I love to hear from you guys, so please comment or email or something!
