Yesterday I took my camera to AK class. My first group were being little pills, so I didn't take any pictures of them, but I did manage to snap a few of my second group. I kind of think I should have taken the camera again today, because today it was the other way around. You just can never guess who will be having a good day and who will be having an off day! It's also more interesting in AK now because on Monday our class literally doubled in size. Supposedly we have one more student that hasn't come yet, but maybe they dropped out... One can only hope, right? (Truth be told, I actually do love these kids. They wear me out more than I would have expected, but they are cute. Even on their bad days, they're still cute.)
No, I didn't take pictures of everyone in this group. I only took pictures of those who said they wanted their picture taken. Maybe next time I just won't give them the option?
This is Derrick. He is new this week. On our roster, we have his name down as "Cerrick," but I must say that I prefer his actual name to the one that we thought it was. He's quiet, but pretty smart. I am pretty sure that is Oscar next to Derrick, but it might be Vincent... I keep getting those two mixed up! Christina, can you tell?
Here is crazy Nick. This kid is a genius, I swear! I actually think he should probably be in the next level up instead of AK. Nick has tons of energy (sometimes too much) and he bores easily if the dialogue is too simple. Behind Nick is Immy. She's only been coming for about 2 weeks now. She does pretty well during games, but she hates snack time because she hates food. I think she is a pickier eater than me, and that is saying something (I mean, seriously, who doesn't like bread? Oh. that would be Immy. Immy doesn't like bread. Or ham. Or cheese. Or crackers. Or yogurt. Or granola. But she does like mangoes.)
Tiffany, Candice, and Mia. This picture captures the essence of their personalities to a T. Tiffany understands quite a bit, but she can't really communicate verbally in English. She's very good at charades, though. She loves to give Christina and I hugs, and every time she sees us in the halls we will hear her say "Teacher!" Yesterday I kept hearing her little voice call out "Teacher," even when I was upstairs. In my room. On my bed. I could hear her. Kind of like when you get a certain song stuck in your head, you know? That's what it was like. Candice. Candice likes to be silly. She keeps telling us "Me home have a nake," so I am guessing that means she recently got a pet snake. Also, I'm pretty sure she and Nick have a little crush on each other. On Monday I had them drawing pictures of their family and she drew a picture of her mom, dad, sister Amy, Grandma, Grandpa, and a snake. Mia is also fairly new, and very quiet. Somehow she knows Jack, but we found they are better off not being in the same group because Jack is either too protective of her or starts teasing her incessantly. She's very good at parroting things, but she can't typically verbalize on her own. At least, not in my classes.
