Happy December!

It has been brought to my attention that it has been over a month since I last posted. Oops. Sorry. Kinda.

Ok, so actually, not much has been going on. I thought I was going to be able to quit my job and start a new one come January, but that didn't work out so well, so now we are sticking it out at Current Place of Employment for about 4 more months. Maybe 5, but I'm leaning more towards 4.

After major anxiety, Dad and Mom helped me get my video for Taiwan finished up, and I was able to ship that off yesterday. I believe now I am mostly just waiting for a contract to be offered. Need to double check with my Rep.

I have applied for graduation. Come the first part of 2011, then, I will owe the school yet even more money just so that they can kick me out with a piece of paper saying I've worked hard and done very well, and here's your little degree, be gone with you! There was a bit of panic when I thought I wasn't passing Geology very well, but we've since learned differently and have come to really, really adore that Geology professor, don't you know. Seriously. Heart.

I have one more paper to write for my English class. It is due on Tuesday. Um... It's coming. Sort of.

My two stupid classes I finished up before the Thanksgiving break. Like, finals taken and everything. It is nice to have them over with. Seriously, lame classes. Very very.

Meanwhile, that's about all what has been going on over here. I mean, I got my tree up (and Drawly is afraid of it, which is the BEST because it means he won't try to climb it and knock it over and thus break it like he did last year), all my lights are finally up, and all the little Christmassy decorations that I've got are also out. Except I've got one more Nativity that I need to find a home for. I think it shall probably live on my end-table thinger in the living room.

So, happy Holiday shopping, and please be nice to all the sales people you see, and please put things away properly or give them to a sales people if you decide that you don't want them any more.

Home Sweet Home

♦ 2/11/2010 05:09:00 PM 1 comments

I've come to the realization on a few different ocassions that I haven't posted pictures of my house since I moved in. This is more or less due to the fact that I am a Lazy Bum and haven't uploaded basically any pictures from my camera(s) to my computer, which makes it rather difficult to post said pictures online.

Allow me to remedy that.

Here are the BEFORE pictures. Notice how brown and Early 80s everything is. (Also how incredibly dirty and disgusting.) (Some of these pictures I may or may not have shown you before.)

Entryway

Living room looking into the entryway/dining room

Hallway looking into the master bedroom

hall bathroom

office

master bath

master bedroom

Apparently I never got pictures of the kitchen before. Or the dining room (of itself). Probably because there was really No Walking Room in either of those two rooms.

I did, however, take a few During the Process photos, as seen below:

New front door! We still haven't stained it... Um. But I do have a rug there, now!

This picture is for you, FeFe. It is my Window Treatment.

The nook thingy in the dining room, Pre-glass and counter-tops.

The kitchen sink area. We raised the ceiling, took out all the cupboards and had new ones built. Also removed all of the appliances (except for the fridge- I still have the same fridge (not pictured))... you get the gist. Do Not have a NOW picture of the kitchen. Yet. But it's awesome.

Dining room window. And cat. (Wuv my snuggley Drawly!) All the windows are also new.
And the office. The shelves were already there, but we gave them a very thorough cleaning. Also have a rug in this room, now, but it's still not quite finished, so, the NOW picture will be forthcoming at a later date. (Probably do not hold me to this statement because it Might Not Come True.)

And now, the most recent pictures. Aka What My House Looks Like Now (more or less):

The Dining Room! Look at my cute, square table. And my cute rug. The entry-way rug and this rug match the rug that go in the office (we bought them to match because I already had one rug for my last apartment in Orem).
The cabinet nook thingy. Also notice my cute Japanese Nativity set (I took all of these pictures in December, right after Christmas). You can also see the reflection of what my view out the dining room window looks like, if you look closely. Also, you can see my china. Only not the pattern of my china. But I do have china!

My living room at Christmas Time! The stereo/speakers you see sitting on the floor are now connected and under/next to the tv. Also, my Christmas Tree isn't up anymore, and neither are any of my other Christmas decorations/lights. (And if my tree looks crooked to you, that's because it is. Drawly felt inclined to climb it, and... it fell. And the top broke off, but Dad "fixed" it. I have a new tree for this year.)

Bonus Picture! My living room at night with only my Christmas lights turned on. I had some on top of the piano, too, as well as one of my lamps, but they didn't photograph very nicely, so... no picture.

My bedroom (master bedroom)

Also my bedroom
I don't think I need to tell you twice.

Still need to take pictures of the bathroom (mine currently has brown paper on the floor because the door needs to be stained (who puts a door to the outside in a bathroom?), and we haven't gotten to that point yet because we are all sissys/too busy and don't like to be outside in the cold. Also, we don't want to let in the cold air.) Also, apparently, need a current picture of my kitchen, office, entryway, and guest bedroom (aka storage room). Also also, I finally found some frames for the pictures I bought in Japantown last June, and we got them hung on the wall above my dresser. I'm very fond of the way that turned out and I may want to take a picture of that.

Clearly we still have a few little projects to do, and I need to get some shelves for all of my dolls so that I can move them over, but I am more or less settled and Drawly and I feel very at home and happy with our living situation at the moment. Someday we may find a way to get me internet into my office. Until then... I'll keep up the sporadic updates.

So, like, we're almost done painting my house (and by "we" I mean Dad because he's AWESOME). What does this mean? It means Wednesday (hopefully!) I get carpet and pergo and vinyl and all that other kind of floor-stuff that people put in their houses. And THEN I think I get kitchen (and bathroom) cabinets, and THEN I get to move in! Hooray! So, moral of the story, soon I will post updated pictures and you will ALL BE AMAZED. So get a few nights good rest because pretty soon you will not be able to sleep EVER AGAIN because you will have the awesomeness of my house imprinted on the back of your eyelids.

Oh yeah. Happy belated Halloween, yo.

The Land of Eternal Dust

♦ 10/08/2009 06:37:00 PM 2 comments

So remember how I'm moving into my own* house?

Oh, wait, I didn't blog that? Oops, sorry. Well, I'm moving into my own house. See, the neighbors reached an age of OLD as DUST (which is saying a lot, after seeing the inside of the house) and ceased to be able to really take good care of themselves (and the house, apparently). This is sad, because they were pretty awesome neighbors and we may never again get another box of chocolate from them for Christmas, which I'll miss, but they are in a Better Place** now, and are being taken care of. Anyway, so I'm moving to their house. I'd try to explain to you why it is taking me so long to move, but.... sometimes words just fail, utterly, and, well, maybe after seeing the pictures, you'll understand why I've been living with my parents for more months than I had expected to be living with them after moving back from California.

(That is not mold. That is not even white carpet. Or grey. That is just a small portion of the dust that NEVER ENDS.)

*For different values of "my own," but the phrase works.
**If the phrase "better place" can ever apply to Vegas, which I have my doubts about, but there you have it.

Teenagers.
Saturday, July 18, 2009
♦ 7/18/2009 12:41:00 PM 0 comments

It is a well-known fact that I have little patience for teenagers. Especially teenagers that are almost out of their teens, such as 18- and 19-year olds. (Sorry, teenagers. Please don't hate me. This is just a general thing and it might not even apply to you!) There have been, in the recent past, even, a few people in this age group that I have been able to make friends with. But in general, these teenager peoples just drive me bagonkers!

It is not the end of the world when someone new moves into the house you are living in. Especially when that someone lives at the other end of the house and you only ever really see each other in Church on Sunday, despite the fact that you live together.

Also, I don't want to listen to your movie from my room.

Also, your taste in music may not be terrible, but I have music, too, and I would prefer to listen to mine, quietly, without having to listen to yours, loudly.

And, actually, considering the fact that teens annoy me, this is a small list and it's not that bad. Yet. Please bless it won't be that bad ever.

Oh, yeah. My room is getting floor today (yea?), so I'm at her end of the house until tomorrow. Then we can go back to pretending the other doesn't exist.

Survivng Death

♦ 5/13/2009 08:30:00 PM 3 comments

Once upon a time, it was Trifecta Monday. Only, it wasn't Trifecta fun times, yet, so I was at home doing my thing. (You know, that thing you do when you really don't have anything else to do? That thing.) And suddenly, BOOM! (well, more like CLICK) and the lights and the power went out in my bedroom. Not funtimes. We decided the building is not well-wired and I think they have to get an electrician in here to fix it. This will happen soon. I plan on calling the office on a nearly-daily basis until it is fixed. So that is why I haven't blogged about Trifecta Monday Past already. Also, pictures will have to wait because Inconvenient to get them onto my computer right now.

So, the next upon a time, it was Funtimes. And we went to.... IKEA!!! Because it's cheaper. And my Mushu pushed me around in a shopping cart. We were taking bets on how long it would take for the IKEA employees to get upset with us, but they never did. We even made it a point to go past as many employees as we could. So that just goes to show that IKEA is OK with people riding in the shopping carts, even if the people are not small children. FYI.

And then we went to Olive Garden. There was delicious gelato for me and I impressed everyone with how much goodness I can devour. I still, however, have not found any gelato that is as good as it was in Texas. This is my quest.

So, Olive Garden closed. It kind of helped to continue with our tradition of practically being kicked out of restaurants every week (due to them closing). But we weren't done being AWESOME yet, so we drove around. My Christopher Robin has this laser pointer thingy in his car, and my Mushu started pointing it on people who were either out on the sidewalk or in the car next to us. Then yours truly got a hold of this laser, and Near Death happened. The guy (who was in the car next to us) started to FOLLOW us. Like, he was seriously following us. We all thought we were going to get shot and die, so my Christopher Robin, who was driving, got us on the freeway and we sped off. I'm not sure where we lost him at, but it was, in a word, Amazing. In fact, I'm pretty sure I do not do it justice. You maybe had to be there.

Hello, Today! We thought you'd never get here!

(When all else fails for creating Titles, I can always count on Hoops and Yoyo.* This time the title comes from my adorable Hoops and Yoyo perpetual calendar. Which talks to me. Daily.)

Just a few thoughts from my day. And pardon me if they're all disorganized and random, but I'm tired and about to fall asleep.

1) Waking up because the smoke detector's battery in the hallway is dying is really uncool. Coming home from work to find that the battery hasn't been changed yet (even though management has been told about it and it is, supposedly, their responsibility to fix it) is even more uncool.

2) When I went to Target to find some 9v batteries (to replace the dying one, you know), I found Muppets from Space on DVD for less than what the batteries cost me. I couldn't pass up such a good deal. Rizzo, I will love you until the day I die.

3) Chopsticks are so work appropriate. So nyah. (This is the sound of me sticking my tongue out, if you are wondering. Someday I'll have someone spell out my tongue-sticking-out nouse phonetically, because this one is not accurate.)

4) We played BINGO at work today. That was kind of awesome and made the time go by a lot faster. I was winning when I left, but I have a feeling that some of the people who still had a few hours left on their shifts probably got black-outs. Considering I only worked 4 hours, though, and also considering the fact that we didn't start BINGO until half-way through my shift, I think I did pretty well. Also, there were TOPS coins involved (which, admittedly, means basically nothing to the vast majority of my readership. Sorry. Just accept the fact that I am awesome).

5) And last, but not least, it was Family Reunion Day today! Today marks the second time in the history of my career that my whole training group has been working in one location at the same time. It was almost perfect. We just needed our Favorite Trainer there with us, and then life would have been complete.

*Dood, I never said my titles would have anything to do with my posts!

Apartment Problems

♦ 2/23/2009 07:25:00 PM 1 comments

So, like... our fridge handle fell off. Well, half of it did. I mean, that's cool, right? Sure, we keep wacking ourselves in the face pretty much every time we go to get some food or a drink, but at least it is all stainless steel and stuff.

Right?

Meanwhile, as I am thinking pretty definitely of staying on at Disney after my internship is over (granted, this is still like... 6 months away or something), I have started looking into housing. I've found this one place in Anaheim that's like, way nice looking and brand spanking new and I think I really want to live there. Problem is, living anywhere in California, especially when you want to live alone and not have to deal with the whole roommate thing anymore, is very expensive. So if anyone wants to donate to my cause, I won't say no. I also won't forget about you.

And my brownie cake is done now. So, you know, I'm going to go take care of that.

P.S. I've also finished seasons 1 and 2 of NCIS. I am now accepting seasons 3 and/or 4 on DVD.

The future of Cleaning Checks
Friday, July 20, 2007
♦ 7/20/2007 01:08:00 AM 1 comments

I hate cleaning checks. Yeah, I guess everyone pretty much does, but I seriously despise them. I'm always cleaning anyway, and then checks come around and my roommates get off home free without having to hardly lift a finger. Well, take this! I'm not going to be here next weekend! I'm not going to clean your stinkin' dirty messes! Honestly. Whoever came up with this system is/was a total dunderhead.

That being said, I think I'm going to clean out the fridge tomorrow. At least get rid of the old, nasty food and wipe off any sticky messes that may be hanging around. I'll probably also take out all the trash since Baby seems incapable of such a feat and SF is just too lazy to even bother more than once a week or so.

But next week! Next week they'll have to prove themselves clean, responsible adults because I won't be here to cover for them (and My K has left, too, so pretty much cleanliness isn't considered such a virtue around here anymore).

Haha! Suckas.

Miscellaneous

The Experiment, by the way, did not turn out well. I'm not too sure how much Baby had to do with it (she's mentioned to me that she is, indeed, a messy person), but when I got back last Thursday you couldn't even tell that I'd vacuumed and the sink was, yet again, full of dishes while the dishwasher yet contained dirty dishes and had MORE than enough room to hold the ones in the sink, too. Not to mention that my Nice Clean Bathroom Counter was covered in hair that was not mine (she has since kept her hair off the counter and done a marvelous job at keeping it clean in there). However, the other day SF started cleaning out all the cupboards and organizing things. It was like a serious de-junkification of our apartment and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside because things were getting cleaned by someone other than myself. She's been trying much harder to be a clean person lately and I appreciate it as I'm not sure I could handle having to stress about someone else's mess right now in my life.

In other news, I only have 4 more days of work up here in Cougar Town (including today). Is it bad that I'm counting them down? Don't get me wrong, I love this job. That's why I keep coming back to it. I mean, really. Like I would come back to something I didn't like? But it's soooo slow and boring! Fayce was kind yesterday; she came in and talked to me for about two hours which made the time go much faster. My K, you may think me crazy and insane for saying this, but I've missed Fayce. She's actually contemplating moving into the Village with me next semester and I actually wouldn't mind.

And speaking of Work. Officer Tonga, the police officer that is on duty in the mornings, has been trying to convince me to go into Law Enforcement. This is very funny to me. (I told SL last night and he busted up laughing, saying, "I can't even imagine you holding a gun.") I think the funniest part is... I'm actually contemplating it! My dad thinks I could learn to be a good shot and that this is something that I might actually enjoy. Which is weird for him to say because his older brother, my uncle, is a cop, and, well... Yeah. But I guess my female and very small-and-skinny cousin loves her job as a Prison Guard, so why shouldn't I be able to love being a cop? Right?

Finally, the last update of my life for the time being, SL called me last night. Just because he hadn't actually really truly talked to me in a long time. He started talking to me online and then all of the sudden my phone was ringing and his voice was on the other end. It was so unexpected, yet very appreciated. He said he'd try to call again tonight, but I'm not going to hold it against him if he doesn't. I mean, really, two nights in a row? Not that I'd complain, but...

Ok. Off to work we go!

Always remember: wherever you go, there you are!

I've succeeded in scaring Baby. She came into the kitchen a short while ago to find me freaking out at the light because it wouldn't stop flickering. She said something along the lines as "Isn't that giving you a headache?"
"No." *flicking switch on and off*
"It would give me a headache!"
*still flicking the switch* "Oh, it won't give me a headache. It's just going to drive me insane. By the way, I have an OCD."
And here she proceeded to look at me like "Oh, no. I'm living with a maniac that's going to come after me in my sleep!"

And, of course, SF was laughing her head off the whole time.

Roommates
Thursday, June 21, 2007
♦ 6/21/2007 10:38:00 PM 0 comments

So I guess I have a new roommate. I haven't met her yet. SF told me today that she's only 18. 18! I try not to even remember being 18! And, since I haven't met her yet, I'm trying not to judge her. But she's already got two strikes against her: 1) She's the younger sister of Mr. Manager. 2) She left hair all over my clean bathroom counter.

SF warned her about my neat-freakness last night, though.

This has seriously got to be payback for me being 18 when I moved in with my older roommates instead of living in the dorms.

I'll update you on the experiment later. I need to get to bed since I have to work at 7:30.

So I decided to conduct an experiment to see how much SF actually cleans when I'm gone (I know you're probably laughing, My K, but she actually vacuumed last week!). I have, therefore, just spent the last two hours of my life giving the kitchen/living room/ hall a very thorough cleaning (enough of one that I KNOW I'd pass cleaning checks. Except I didn't clean inside the fridge/freeze but like they even care). I also took pictures which I will be posting probably tomorrow after I get back to Santa Horhe. This should be interesting as the place was an absolute PIG STY when I arrived Thursday evening.

I'll tell you What Now
Monday, April 23, 2007
♦ 4/23/2007 10:13:00 AM 0 comments

What Now is that in approximately two hours I will be in my car on the way to the airport. In approximately four hours I will be in the air on the way to Orange County (California). And then I will be where it is sunny and warm and I won't have a care in the world (for a few days, anyway). And tomorrow I will be at the Happiest Place on Earth enjoying myself most immensely.

My K, I will buy you a present. I promise.

I'll buy a few other people presents, too, but they don't read my blog (I don't think...)

Hopefully by the time I get back to town I will have forgiven University Parking for trying to ruin my life (they haven't succeeded, yet). Hopefully when I get back to town cleaning checks will be long over and Managers will have taken pity on me and passed me even though I won't be here to defend myself. Hopefully when I get back to town I'll be able to handle being in SF's presence for a short time.

And most Hopefully: hopefully I will have figured a few things out and I'll know how to deal with what's going on in this life that I'm about to take a vacation from.

Always remember: wherever you go, there you are!

Ice Walking
Saturday, December 02, 2006
♦ 12/02/2006 11:33:00 PM 2 comments

My sister and I took quite a fall today in front of the County School District's office in Santa Horhe. Because of Ice. In Santa Horhe. Yes, I know that's rather repetitive of me, but I have to get the point across that there was ICE in Santa Horhe. And I fell on it. Hard. Real hard. My sister fell first, knocking my foot with hers, thus forcing me to really lose my balance and causing me to meet up with the concrete. It hurt. I think our guardian angels must have caught us at least a little bit, though, because I at least am lucky to not have broken an arm, wrist or a hip. However, I did throw my back out again, after having just recovered from the last time. Which really stinks, you know? And I'm going to have to sit in a very uncomfortable airplane seat Monday morning that does not really allow me to recline. Gah. Ah, well. I am seriously thankful that that is the worst of my injuries. The city will be lucky to get through the winter without a law suit or two on theirs hands if this sort of stuff keeps up. Seriously, guys, salt the walks!

I have recently come to the very sudden and firm conclusion that I shall be moving away from the SbitBoM when my contract runs out (or at the very latest at the end of Summer term). As much as I know how everyone else loves the bishopric and the ward, I don't. I know the bishop tries hard, but it's difficult for me to talk to him when I know he doesn't understand that depression- clinical depression -is a disease and not something that can be dismissed at the wave of a finger. So. Hopefully Love Duck will be willing to move to New Place with me, even though I'm not sure where New Place is going to be yet. There are a few condos that I looked at before deciding where to live this year last year that I'd like to go get a feel for again. I remember being sort of excited about a few of them and that at least one had a fireplace. Plus they are closer to campus than where I am now and they all had three stories: ground, upstairs, and a basement. This pleased me. A lot.

Blogger is bonkin' out on me or something. I seem to be missing my "Compose" setting thingy as well as all the little buttons at the top that were in the HTML part. If you even know what I'm talking about. It bugs.

My friend from ages ago is going to be having her baby tomorrow one way or another. I'm excited for her. She was supposed to have baby last week before Thanksgiving, but that obviously never happened. The good doctors at the hospital are going to induce her sometime tomorrow morning and I will get to hold baby before I leave for Cougar Town Monday morning. I hope everything goes well for her. She's worried about biting her husband's head off in the process, but I told her to just do it because he'd most likely just attribute it to her giving birth, which is true anyway.

So, that's all. See you when I see you, and probably not tomorrow.

End.
