If I Die Young

Has anyone else noticed that this song is totally Anne of Green Gables-esque?

(For the record, I actually love this song.)

Also, I have my own internet now. Yea! That means that I no longer have that excuse for not finishing up my Taiwan posts. However, I am also working again (at a florist shop! and a school!), so... that's my new excuse. I'll try to finish things up soon, though. There's really not much left!

My Life According to Nickel Creek

I saw this on Tib's blog, and it looked entertaining enough, so I thought I'd jump on the band wagon (ha. Get it? "Band" wagon? Oh mans. I'm funny). I would have done a different Artist, but I only have two that I know really well, so... Wee! Also, we have learned that I really need to organize the music on my computer again.

My Life According to...

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)"

Pick your Artist:
Nickel Creek

Describe yourself:
Ode to a Butterfly

How do you feel:
Beauty and the Mess

Describe where you currently live:
In the House of Tom Bombadil

If you could go anywhere, where would you go:
Pastures New

Brand New Sidewalk

Your best friend:
Cukoo's Nest

You and your best friend are:

If your life was a TV show, what would it be called:
Out of the Woods

What is life to you:
Seven Wonders

Your relationship:
Speak

Your fear:
I Should've Known Better

What is the best advice you have to give:
Why Should the Fire Die?

Thought for the Day:
When in Rome

How I would like to die:
Tomorrow is a Long Time

My soul's present condition:
Can't Complain

My motto:
Hanging By a Thread

I have a new favorite artist. Only, I'm kind of sad because she doesn't have a CD out yet. You'll understand after you give her a listen.

Alishka did this over on her blog and I thought, why not. Only, like... most of my answers make no sense at all, but whatever. Also, there's like this Christmas thing going on. I don't even know. It's weird because I don't even have that much Christmas music on my computer in comparison to all the other kinds of music I have.

1. Put Your iTunes, Windows Media Player, MP3 Player, or whatever on Shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. You must write down the name of the song no matter how silly it sounds!
4. Put any comments in brackets after the song name.

Training Wheels (with a Svithe)

I was going to come up with some awesome analogy between life and training wheels, but my brain hasn't been functioning too well ever since I switched over medications, so you'll have to wait for that one or come up with it by yourself.

In about 14 hours or so I'll be on my way up to SLC where I'll be spending the night in some random yet expensive hotel for FREE because I have training early Monday morning. And so, you will not be seeing me around Blogger the rest of this fine day (probably- I still have to sleep before morning comes) and possibly not until Tuesday. Or later. Who knows really what the week has in store for me?

But here's a Svithe, anyway:
Go and listen yourself to some MoTab.

P.S. More on the Iowa story to come still.

Always remember: wherever you go, there you are!

I've fallen in love with Dido. Seriously, deeply in love. (Well, not with her, but with her music.) I need to go to Best Buy to see if they have the other CD that Walmart didn't have. I NEED it.

Always remember: wherever you go, there you are!

I have no snow. None. It was 50 degrees today (about).
I have no finals. None. I finished them all up Saturday morning past.
I got to go to an awesome MoTab Christmas Concert with guest performer Sissel.
I got to check out the Lights on Temple Square. Again.
I got to go to Music and the Spoken Word with guest performer Sissel and the FIRST PRESIDENCY.
I got to hear President Hinckley make a funny.
I got to sleep in until noon today and plan to do the same tomorrow.

I also plan to sleep through most of Christmas break as soon as I make it to the doctor because I'm pretty sure she'll put me on a new medication that I'll have to adjust to. I mean, really. Let's face it. Luvox just isn't cutting it anymore and I'll end up leaving school forever if something doesn't change.

End.

Lyrical
Monday, October 16, 2006
♦ 10/16/2006 12:55:00 AM 2 comments

The Rules:
Take 20 fairly standard and innocuous questions and answer them with music lyrics. (Bet you can't guess my favorite artist!)

1. Are you male or female?

Use to think that I would be so sad.
If you ever walked away.
Use to think I needed you so bad.
Did I say that I'd never leave you behind?
Well, just keep treating me unkind 'cause fool I'm a woman and I'm bound to change my mind.

With a woman it's imperative you show her that you love her.
If you don't it's her prerogative to change like the weather.
I'm seeing the signs.
You know I use to think love was blind.
Well, fool I'm a woman and I'm bound to change my mind.

Fool, I'm a Woman- Sarah Evans

2. Who are you?

what will be left when I've drawn my last breath,
besides the folks i've met and the folks who know me,
will i discover a soul cleansing love,
or just the dirt above and below me,
i'm a doubting thomas,
i took a promise,
but i don't know what's safe,
oh me of little faith,
sometimes i pray for a slap in the face,
then i beg to be spared 'cause i'm a coward,
if there's a master of death i'll bet he's holding his breath,
as i show the blind and tell the deaf about his power,
i'm a doubting thomas,
i can't keep my promises,
'cause i don't know what's safe,
oh me of little faith

Doubting Thomas- Nickel Creek

3. Describe your neighborhood.

I linger in the doorway
Of alarm clock screaming
Monsters calling my name
Let me stay
Where the wind will whisper to me
Where the raindrops
As they’re falling tell a story

In my field of paper flowers
And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple sky fly over me

Imaginary- Eavanescence

4. How do you look?

You don't run with the crowd
You go your own way
You don't play after dark
You light up my day
Got your own kind of style
That sets you apart

What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful- Backstreet Boys (how embarrassing)

5. What is love?

Your memory's the sunshine every new day brings
I know the sky is calling
Angel, let me help you with your wings

When you're soarin' through the air
I'll be your solid ground
Take every chance you dare
I'll still be there
When you come back down

When You Come Back Down- Nickel Creek

6. If you could say one thing to the person you love, what would it be?

I didn't hear you say you're sorry.
The fault must be mine.
I wish you all the best of luck at finding somebody more like you.

You said you'd love me always truely.
I must have changed.
Because you don't need me like you used to.
I hope you find somebody more like you.

I hope you finally find someone,
someone that you trust and give him everything.
I hope you meet someone your hight so
you can see eye to eye with someone as small as you.

You came out of nowhere and made me smile.
Then tore me in two.
Sayin we're very different people so dear,
I hope you find somebody more like you.
I hope you find somebody more like you.

Somebody More Like You- Nickel Creek

7. What's your secret?

Why don't you call me, I could save you.
Together we'll find a god we can pray to that will take you by the hand.

I hate to see a friend of mine,
Laughing out loud when she's crying inside,
but you've got your pride.

Staring down the stars, jelous of the moon
You wish you could fly.
But you're staying where you are
There's nothing you could do, if you're too scared to try

Jealous of the Moon- Nickel Creek

8. Are you strong?

I'm frightened by what I see
but somehow I know that there's much more to come
immobilized by my fear
and soon to be blinded by tears
I can stop the pain if I will it all away

Whipser- Evanescence

9. Where do you wish you were right now?

I wish you out of the woods
And into a picture with me
I wish you over the moon
Come out of the question and be

Out of the Woods- Nickel Creek

10. What do you think about your friends?

You see the patterns in the big sky
Those constellations look like you and I
Just like the patterns in the big sky
We could be lost we could refuse to try
But we made it through in the dark night
Would those lucky guys turn out to be
But that unusual blend of my funny friend and me

My Funny Friend and Me- Sting

11. Any words of advice?

Well, I've been deep down in that darkness,
I been down to my last match.
Felt a hundred different demons,
Breathin' fire down my back.
An' I knew that if I stumbled,
I'd fall right into the trap that they were layin', yeah.

But the good news is there's angels,
Everywhere out on the street.
Holdin' out a hand,
To pull you back up on your feet:
The one's that you been draggin' so long,
You're on your knees; you might as well be prayin'.

Guess what I'm sayin':
If you're goin' through hell,
Keep on goin'.
Don't slow down:
If you're scared don't show it.
You might get out,
'Fore the devil even knows you're there.

If You're Going Through Hell- Rodney Atkins

12. What do you wish you were doing right now?

Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
All that's left of Yesterday

Hello- Evanescence

13. What do you think about drugs?

Her Daddy drank all day and Mommy did drugs
Never wanted to play
Or give kisses and hugs
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch
While her Mom fell asleep
And her Daddy went out

And the drinking and the fighting
Just got worse every night
Behind their couch she'd be hiding
Oh, what a sad little life

The Little Girl- John Michael Montgomery

14. If you could say one thing to your enemy, what would it be?

Lonely, the life and dismal the view.
Closed is the road that leads to you.
Since better can be, as friends we'll agree,
Sabra girl, time will cure me

Sabra Girl- Nickel Creek

15. What do you do on Friday nights?

Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one

I Will Remember You- Sarah McLachlan

16. What would you do if you won a million dollars?

I love life, life loves me,
Let's take another trip to Disneyland,
Disneyland.

I Love Life- Melissa Lefton

17. How do you feel right now?

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
Theres always one reason
To feel not good enough
And its hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
Ill find some peace tonight

Angel- Sarah McLachlan

18. Are you for world peace?

Can you hear the voice of the children softly pleading for silence in their shattered world?
Angry guns preach a gospel full of hate, blood of the innocent on their hands.
Crying, “Jesus, help me to feel the sun again upon my face.
For when darkness clears I know you're near, bringing peace again.”
Dali cuje te sve djecje molitve?
Can you hear the prayer of the children?

Prayer of the Children- Kurt Bestor

19. Where were you born?

Down in Utah
The guys and I dig a city called Salt Lake
It's got the grooviest kids
That's why we never get tired of Salt Lake
And the way the kids talk so cool
Is an out of sight thing
And the number one radio station
Makes the town really swing yeah
Salt Lake City we'll be coming soon

Salt Lake City - Beach Boys

20. Any closing words?

Yeah for every price and every penance that I could think of
It’s better to have fallen in love
Than never to have fallen at all
Cuz when you live in a world
Well it gets in to who you thought you’d be
And now I laugh at how the world changed me
I think life chose me
After all

After All- Dar Williams

Behold, the Muse
